Huntingdon Valley PA, September 6, 2006 - AlphaLit,
a division of Alpha Systems and a nationally recognized
full service provider of litigation support services,
today announced the release of E-Direct 2.0 with new
capabilities that help legal teams efficiently review,
organize and produce documents in the discovery process.
"AlphaLit's growth and success over the past twenty
years is a direct result of our commitment to provide
straight-forward software and services that are extremely
intuitive and based on the needs of our clients," said
Dale Drury, founder of AlphaLit. "This release, with
tiff-on-the-fly redaction, unlimited foldering options
and advanced management reporting demonstrates our
ongoing commitment to providing the best technology
with the best value."
The powerful new features of E-Direct 2.0, which are
a direct result of customer recommendations, will enable
attorneys to increase review efficiency and easily
manage, organize and control the review process. This
new release builds on the innovative core functions
already available in E-Direct, which include native
or tiff review, user definable coding interface, full
featured searching capabilities, batch coding, printing
and exporting.
Enhanced feature highlights include:
Redaction: E-Direct now supports the ability
to redact documents on-the-fly during native document
review. Specific documents are converted to image format,
by the reviewing attorney, and then redacted in a user-friendly
interface. The interactive tiff viewer allows multiple
redaction messages and color schemes. Redactions can
be saved for later revision, or finalized. Access to
the original native file is maintained throughout.
A list of documents that have been redacted can be
provided using the new export module. Redaction capability
can be restricted or granted to certain users within
the administrator's control panel.
Searching Enhancements: In addition to significantly
improved performance when running searches, users may
now save the search in multiple ways:
- Save only the search syntax
- Save the search syntax AND the results
- Append the current search results to an existing
search set.
All searches can be recalled and rerun as well.
Real-time Management Reporting: Reporting has
been added to allow review teams to keep track of the
status of their review in a number of ways:
- System Audit Report: All activity performed per user
may be reported from the E-Direct administration application.
All coding entries, printing and updating is recorded
and displayed. A detailed and summary report are both
available.
- User Activity Report: Provides data for selected
users regarding time logged in, number of documents
reviewed and the average number of documents coded
per hour over a selected interval.
- Review Activity Report: Provides data detailing the
number of documents coded for each of the selected
code values (i.e.: number of documents marked privileged,
responsive, etc.) Report includes all custom coding
information.
- Media Status Report: Provides detailed data on the
processing of media received by AlphaLit specific to
the current project.
Export Module: E-Direct now allows any or all
available metadata and review coding information to
be exported to a user-defined ASCII delimited file.
This file may be imported into any other database,
spreadsheet or word processing application that supports
ASCII load files.
User-Defined Folders: Within the Project Navigator,
users may now create, modify and delete folders within
the private and public folder space if the administrator
grants them the rights to do so.
Automatic Coding of Duplicates: When this new
feature is enabled, all information coded for a document
will automatically carry through for its duplicates
within the collection.
About E-Direct: E-Direct is the flagship native
review product of AlphaLit, and is a popular component
of the time-tested workflows and processes offered
by AlphaLit. With E-Direct, legal teams can quickly
gain secure, 24-hour access to their electronic evidence
before the time-consuming and expensive process of
converting the documents to image. Designed to look
and act like popular e-mail systems, attorneys and

uniquely easy to use. As a hosted, internet-based application,
it may be accessed by any computer with an internet
