AlphaLit Announces Multi-Lingual Support

Huntingdon Valley PA, December 1, 2009 - AlphaLit, a division of Alpha Systems, and a leader in Electronic Discovery Services, today announced the addition of full Multi-Lingual Discovery support. These new capabilities dovetail with AlphaLit's recent Safe Harbor Certification, and help support the growing number of cross border deals and disputes that AlphaLit clients manage.

Recognized by the Socha-Gelbmann Survey as a leading provider of Electronic Discovery Services for America's largest corporations and law firms, Alpha now provides interchangeable English and Multi-Lingual Discovery Support. Dale Drury, Vice President of AlphaLit, said, "We are always looking to simplify things for our clients. With full Multi-Lingual support our clients can rest assured that any non-English documents that find their way into discovery sets will be identified and handled properly throughout the discovery life cycle."

AlphaLit's processing systems are fully configured to work with all Unicode-supported character sets. Whether it's for a pre-litigation early case assessment ("ECA") or processing materials for a formal discovery document review, AlphaLit's intake system recognizes a broad range of languages and can provide a full statistical analysis of the collection as well as segregate documents into review folders based on their language. Documents containing more than one language, such as conversational e-mail email threads, can be identified by their majority language or by all of the languages present in the document.

Once documents have been processed, AlphaLit's E-Direct review solution lets the legal team easily work with multi-lingual document collections. Because of E-Direct's full Unicode support, search queries can be entered in virtually any character set. The entire review form including field names and values can also be created in any language, permitting translators and other language specialists to customize their review environment. For those documents requiring translation, AlphaLit offers both machine and certified human translation with links to the original non-English document. Both E-Direct's native file viewer for ESI, and HTML file viewer, support a full range of Latin and non-Latin character sets, letting reviewers focus on the substance of documents, not on the logistics of getting them on-screen.

AlphaLit's document production services round out the company's comprehensive international language support. AlphaLit's technology supports the production of these materials in a broad variety of formats. Whether it's the creation of TIFF images that accurately display non-Latin characters or the production of a Unicode-compliant load file, AlphaLit can fully meet the needs of even the most complex international matter.
